DualShot privacy policy
We built DualShot so that your content stays on your device.
Last updated 10 October 2026
DualShot ("the app") is made by Chaicode for Android and iPhone. This policy explains what the app does with your information.
What we collect
Nothing. DualShot has no accounts, no servers of its own, no ads and no tracking. Chaicode does not receive your videos, audio, photos, captions, API keys or any personal information.
What stays on your device
- Your recordings, projects, edits, captions and settings are stored only on your phone, inside the app's private storage.
- Photos and videos you pick as a green screen background are copied into the app's private storage and used only in your project.
- Exported videos and cover images are saved to your gallery (in
Movies/DualShotandPictures/DualShoton Android) or your Photos library on iPhone, only when you choose to export. - Uninstalling the app deletes every project stored inside it. Videos you exported to your gallery stay.
On-device processing
These features run entirely on your phone. Nothing they look at leaves the device, and none of it is used to identify anyone.
- Clear skin finds faces so it can smooth only skin (Apple Vision on iPhone, Google ML Kit on Android).
- Palm control looks for an open hand to start and stop recording (Apple Vision on iPhone, Google MediaPipe on Android).
- Green screen separates you from your background (Apple Vision on iPhone, Google MediaPipe on Android).
On Android, Google's ML Kit library may send anonymous diagnostic and performance information to Google. See ML Kit's data disclosure.
Optional AI features (your own keys)
If you add your own Sarvam AI or OpenAI API key in Settings:
- Captions. When you tap Generate captions, the audio of your clips is sent from your phone to Sarvam AI to be transcribed. If you turned on precise word timing, it is also sent to OpenAI.
- AI hook and caption writer. When you use it, your transcript or the topic you type is sent to the provider you chose.
- These requests go straight from your phone to the provider over an encrypted connection. Chaicode never sees them. The providers' own policies apply: Sarvam AI and OpenAI.
- Your keys are stored encrypted on your phone (the Android Keystore or the iOS Keychain), and each key is only ever sent to the provider it belongs to.
- If you never add a key, no audio or text ever leaves your device.
Permissions
- Camera: to record video.
- Microphone: to record audio and voiceovers.
- Photos and gallery: to save exported reels, and to let you pick a background. The system picker only shares the items you choose.
- Internet: only for the optional AI features above.
Children
DualShot is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
